A spokeman for the California State Medical Board advised that “because Doctor Melcher is now a registered sex offender, he can no longer hold a medical license in California.”

According to police investigators, Melcher admitted that on the night in question, he was under the influence of alcohol when he molested the unnamed 11-year-old boy, in October.  The incident occurred at a party in a city park, when Melcher joined the boy under a blanket after dark. According to police, the boy’s parents and sister were nearby, and were not aware of the incident until later.
