Doctor Gets 4-Year Sentence in Cambodia for Child Sex Charges

For a New York physician, getting himself banned from a country he loves wasn’t the worse news he would hear in a Cambodian courtroom.

Dr. James D’Agostino Convicted in Cambodia

Doctor James D’Agostino, age 56, has been found guilty of child prostitution and exploitation.  He was taken into custody immediately after the Conviction was handed down, and began serving a sentence of four years.

As part of the 325 member medical staff at the National Pediatric Hospital in the capital city of Phnom Penh, investigators believe he repeatedly sexually abused a young boy. Evidence brought to trial also persuaded the judge that the doctor had been paying the victim’s family money in order to gain access to the child.

In light of the conviction, the New York State Department of Health has suspended D’Agostino’s medical license.
